Bright Parrot

by

Alice C. Bateman

I saw a bright parrot

It sat in the tree

While I looked at it

It looked at me

It was only a vision

I could see through its wings

A vision so lovely

It could mean many things

It could mean that my 'South' dream

Is bound to come true

It could mean that I'm crazy

So - what else is new?

I blinked, and it sat there

So I blinked again

But still the bright parrot

Chose to remain

I was finally distracted

By my little boys

But still the bright parrot

Is bringing me joy
