Me, Myself and I

By

Alice C. Bateman

Somewhere in these caverns

Maybe I’ll find me

Somewhere between the rock walls

And the river to the sea

The rock walls are the hurting

The walls I’ve built with pain

All the pretty colors

Are the hues that I have gained

Because the pain has strengthened

Has polished, molded me

As troubles join the river

And drift away to sea

Somewhere between the rock walls

And the hidden, far-off sky

I’ll try to find the disparate parts

Of me, myself, and I
