The Wedding Poem

by

Alice c. Bateman

{I originally wrote this for my brother Bruce’s Wedding, but you can use it for family weddings just by substituting names. Alice}

As you stand on the threshold of marriage

I wish you the best, and much more

As you stand on the threshold of marriage

You are waiting to open a door

A door to a future that’s loving

A door to a future that’s bright

A door to a marriage that’s lasting

Because you know it is right

Your families will support you

If things should become rough

Your families will support you

There’s lots of us, we’re tough

I’m glad that I could be here

To share this day with you

I love you, Bruce, you know that

And I love Shannon too

As you stand on the threshold of marriage

I wish you the best, and much more

As you stand on the threshold of marriage

With confidence, open the door
