      We
      Walk Alone

      By
      Alice
      C. Bateman

      We walk
alone in darkness
      Even
in the bright of day

      Our
sorrows overtake us

      When
we try to walk away

      We
each have our own troubles

      We
try to work them out

      But
oftentimes, we cannot help

      But
be consumed with doubt

      We
try to smell the flowers

      But
there seems to be no way

      To
get any enjoyment

      On
a dark and depressed day

      The
sunlight doesn’t penetrate

      The
all-pervasive gloom

      We
can’t even see the beauty

      In
a beautiful, sweet bloom

      But
still somehow we must go on

      Must
do our days with grace

      Try
not to let the people see

      What
lies behind our face

      Life
can be such a struggle

      But
the beauty is still there

      It
might take a loved one’s laughter

      A
hint that someone cares

      Then
perhaps we can awaken

      From
the misery we feel

      Reach
out to God, and hold on

      And
know His love is real
