What if it Was Lettuce

by

Alice C. Bateman

What if it was lettuce

That they chose to take away?

A beneficial substance

That we use most every day?

What if it was lettuce

That was against the law?

What if it was lettuce

That was against the law?

Because a daily substance

That *Howard God* gave us

Has suddenly been taken

Into hands that we can't trust

They take away our Healing Herb

And give to us much pain

And say "Take this Rat Poison"

It will only rot your brain

When we could each have a Garden

Of God's Own Healing Herb

And we could have a peaceful

And gentle sort of world
