What if it Were Roses

by

Alice C. Bateman

What if it were roses?

That were suddenly illegal?

What if we got arrested

For carrying a bud?

What if all God's Gifts

He's given us

Were struck off of our lists?

What if trees and grass

Had penalties

For growing on the hills?

What if the sunrise was illegal

And we couldn't

Watch the dawns?

I do not want this to happen

Nor, I think, do you

So take a stand

It's just a plant

And it's good for you
