Wake Up To The Sun

by

C C. Rider

Early in the morning
I slowly open my eyes.
I could lie in bed forever,
Hiding from this hurried life.
Here I am.

I wake up to the sun
Already moving fast across the sky.
I wake up to the sun
And a list of things and wonder where do I
Begin to do it all.
I need to calm down and take a sip,
Slip into a mocha,
Let it take me away.
But no matter how far I go,
Here I am.

I get up to leave,
See people rushing all around.
I already need a break.
I sit back down and throw away my keys.
Here I am.

I wake up to the sun
Already moving fast across the sky.
I wake up to the sun
And a list of things and wonder where do I
Begin to do it all.
I need to calm down and take a sip,
Slip into a mocha,
Let it take me away.
But no matter how far I go,
Here I am.
