Mary Lavender

by

Carol Roth

Mary in Lavender

with smiling eyes

spirited sprite, a woman wise guy.

Her looks haven’t changed.

Her age? Senior clue.

Engaging and sweet

and the girls like her too.

Lavender Mary

plays horseshoes, you know.

One day she tried it--gave it a throw.

It landed--a ringer, she did it again

She now pitches better than most of the men.
