Mr. Mcdaniel's Cocker Spaniel

by

Celista Tremblay

Mr. McDaniel
had a cocker spaniel
had called him Blacky Midnight

Blacky was devious
and oh so mischievous
He caused Mr. McDaniel such fright

Mr. McDaniel was old
and he had no control
of this perfect puppy despite

So he packed up his bags
and his old play rags
and headed for the shelter with might

He walked through the
door and at that time he swore
This puppy will be out of my sight

And when he arrived home
he saw Blacky’s bone
and realized he had lost him for spite

Mr. McDaniel’s
perfect cocker spaniel
was now alone in the night

So he got in the car
and he raced really far
to get to the shelter with plight

Then he scooped up his dog
And when back in the fog
And headed home with Blacky Midnight
