Ada

by

Charles Okafor

I was quite nervous when you walked in,
Flashing a smile, ravishing my heart
My countryside head.
And your mouth, your Earth-red coated lips,
Was all songs, cuddling my ears ------------- such melodious tune.
I heard other mouths resting
Their eyes on your circumcised parts,
Your penciled brow, telling your ways are diamonds,
Intoxicating every bit of my soul,
I watched your refined self weave
Strange tongues unknown to us
Far away from your mother's clay pot,
Suddenly I visit again those nights in the moon-lit play grounds,
suddenly I am back shedding a tear or two,
you walked up to me, softly calling my name,
Taking me into your arms,
painting my heart all with a smile
