Demon

by

Cinnamon Brown

He preys over my thoughts and dreams
He shortens the very air I breathe
This demon sometimes makes me think he went away
Then he pops up to remind me that he is here to stay
I sometimes wish he'd pick on someone else
And leave me to myself
That is when I realize that he doesn't only haunt me
But he also torments others constantly
I ask him why but he doesn't answer
At least I know his first name
and it is cancer
