Mama

by

Cinnamon Brown

Mama don't live here no more
She packed her bags said life had more to offer than me
Before she left she told me to use what I got to get what I want
Whatever that meant
Mama don't live here no more
Daddy says she will be back soon but I see through his lie
My little brother don't know the difference he's only 2
He never hardly seen her anyway
Mama don't live here no more
Its been months since she has
I've forgotten her scent her smile and her voice
I decide to give up hope
Yesterday she called me its been 17 years since she left
Little brother all grown up and me a mother myself
I asked who was on the phone cause I couldn't catch the voice
"Its Mama baby" She said
I laughed a little held back my tears and said
Mama don't live here no more she moved away a long time ago
She took my heart, trust and childhood with her when she left
Today Mama died the mother I never Knew...
