I Stand Alone

by

D. A. Williams

Yeah I've grown cold
So cold that I'm freezing
And every step I take
Is like an act of treason
Cause I don't trust a soul
And you say I've got no reason
For the way that I am
Or the way that I'm feeling
Wait a minute
Let's think about it
Of course I do
Everybody turned away
And that includes you
I see how it is now
At least one of us was serious
The day we said our vows
You see I've done everything
That you asked me to do
And still I get no effort from you
I guess that is where we stand
My hopes and dreams
They don't really matter
Like dust in the wind
All they do is scatter
You have hopes and dreams too
But don't ask me to condone
You've chased them at our expense
And so now, I stand alone
