The Words Cry

by

D. A. Williams

I've got too much pride
To let the emotions fly
So I pick up a pen
And make the words cry
I can't expose the weakness
I can't show the pain
'Cause the world takes advantage
Every time that they see this
So I stand up to the pressure
And I face the pouring rain
I choke down all the anger
And swallow all the pain
People don't understand
How I can live this way
But pushing people back
Gets me through the day
You can ostracize me
You can try to comprehend
You can walk away
Or you can try to be my friend
But I'm telling you right now
This s**t may never end
I fight this battle everyday
God knows that I try
But I put my feelings in writing
And still the words cry.
