Wanna Be Me

by

D. A. Williams

So you wanna be me

Then stand alone on stage

Wrap a fist around the mic

And spit the venomous rage

That you've got built up inside

And a pain so intense

That it now refuses to hide

So you wanna be me

Then live my life

Walk a mile in my shoes

Down streets paved with strife

Now you've started to pay the dues

So you wanna be me

Close your eyes

And try to look back

See the faded memories

Of friends that are gone

Shot in the back

If there is a man upstairs

They are walking with God

Take a brief moment

You better watch what you say

Look through my eyes

Can you handle the pain?

Do you like what you see?

Now are you really sure --

DO YOU WANNA BE ME?
