My First Love

by

Devin E. Davidson

My first love was pure, like a virgin
My first was beautiful
My first love taught me a lot
Taught me life does mean something
My first was special in every way
My first love listened when there was nothing to say
My first lends me a heart when mine's failed
My first gave me pleasure, no greater thrill
My first love stuck it out, and cried along
What about my first love, a lot goes on
When a first love fades, its hard to go on
But what my first love taught me
I take to my death
My first love showed me a soul
My first love allowed me to see
That only a first is as special
And guys only, you'll see
My first love, thank you
It will never be forgotten
And my first love will never blow away
Like just some frail piece of cotton
