O, My Friend by

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

O, my friend, you are not only my inner-self,
But also my genius. Your are my soul, my poetry,
It is you who tell me how to walk on the thorns
Of life, and how to strike my feet,
Against the hard rock of time. When on my way to life,
No doubt I fall many times, it is you who tell me,
How to fall with dignity and rise again with
Greater zeal, and greater passion. When I feel myself,
Drowning in the sea of life, your love provides me
A bark to sale. But for your love, O, my friend,
I would have been a sod, lying at one place
Still and inactive, leading a life without life,
And passing days, un-noticing and usn-noticed.
