Darkness, Darkness

by

Eric Charles

Darkness, darkness
All around me
Is that all there is
Or just all that I see
Darkness, darkness
In empty faces
Just playing out time
And filling up spaces
With darkness

Darkness, darkness
In her eyes
Is it cool mystery
Or a smile full of lies
Darkness, darkness
In my bed
Am I all alone
With you
Or is it in my head
This darkness

When I see the light
A stolen moment
Brief but bright
I stumble back to night
The blindness of the masses
Caught in flight

Darkness, darkness
Is our pride
Though we stand in the light of truth
We choose to close our eyes
To the darkness
Behind this door
Is it me who holds the key
Or someone I'm looking for
In the darkness
