Come to Mississippi, my kin folk said
We'll catch enough fish to keep everyone fed
We didn't catch any fish that could 'pull a boat'
I found out my tackle box wouldn't float
We almost got blown away at Sardis one night
Terrible storm gave everyone a fright
We were sleeping double in a single tent
Our minds all warped and our bodies bent
It was hot during the day and cold at night
Twenty five kinfolk in one campsite
In the middle of nowhere with a bunch of hicks
Scratching them chiggers and plucking them ticks
Now, Mississippi is a mighty fine state
But I think another 'country' visit will have to wait
It will take me awhile to get over the last
I don't think I'm going to heal that fast
The country is beautiful and the air is clean
And the people are the friendliest I've ever seen
But those kinfolk will kill you and I'm not lying
You'll have fun or you'll die trying
