The Crown of spring

by

Janice Engle

Warm breezes touch your face
Fragrant flowers fill the air
Leaves dance to and fro
Raindrops come and then they go

Green carpets on the ground
Fresh mowed grass under toe
Manicured lawns tidy and neat
Little birds look for worms to eat

Little children eager to play
Farmers plant and grow
Luscious gardens tasty wares
Fresh spring clothes hung out with care

Windows open to feel the breeze
Light seems brighter days grow long
On the porch we sit and hear
All the things we hold so dear

Wake up sleepy spring and play
Your time has come to wear the crown
You'll dance and sing but not for long
You will sleep again when spring is gone
