Mirror, Mirror in Twenty Years...

by

Jessica Sayer

Looking at my reflection
Seeing an older model
Looking at my reaction
Seeing weary old shovel

Listening to my voice
Hearing not much at all
Listening to the noise
Hearing it bounce off the wall

Smelling some leftovers
Tasting yet more burnt offerings
Smelling my broken down hovers
Tasting my great tellings

Feeling somewhat old
Touching my old found youth
Feeling like a wasted cold
Touching my clipped tooth

Looking, listening what I see in 20 years
Smelling tasting what the future may hold
Seeing, hearing what is out of reach from my ears
Oh now I don't want to be old
