Wishing Daddy Out of Heaven

by

Jo Ann Mann

The tears that are shed for a Daddy that has died
Are they wishing him out of Heaven?
Could they be tears that are shed for me as I cried?
I was just a little girl, not much more than eleven

Setting one less place at the family table
To all of us it seemed so strange
Would I wish him out of Heaven if I were able?
Death brings about such a dreadful change

My Daddy is not out of my life
He looks down at me always
Helping me now to be a good wife
Would I wish him out of heaven on the really bad days?

Having a Daddy in heaven isn’t so bad
He is always in my heart
Wishing him out of heaven would now make me sad
Because Daddy was in the arms of Jesus from the very start!
