Breathe, and never Forget

by

Joseph Birnbaum

What is fate?
A path we tread, they say
A field in Autumn
A Harvest that came, withered.

Hold your eyes to remember
The scent you'll smell again
Bittersweet Lavender you had!
But now, 'tis gray, and dust.

Tax your mind 'till Geula come.
Taste life until it brings Death.
It will take your by the hand, son of Man.
Breathe, and never Forget.
