Field of Loneliness

by

Joshua Luchau

A boy walks a field in the day all alone
Having lost something dear his heart gives a cry
He thinks of what's happened and what it has shown
Heavy hearted and sad, his broken soul gives a sigh

He once knew a girl he had loved and befriended
This girl broke his heart, but that's not what she wanted
So he hurt her and thereby the friendship had ended
Now alone through the fields as he walks he is haunted

He misses the time when they sang the same tune
He misses her smile and the support that she gave
He knows his sad life will be ending here soon
So he pleads with the girl for the friendship to save

His words fall on ears now gone deaf to that boy
Laying down in the field he stares up at the sky
Thinking "pain caused by pain never leads us to joy.
As the sun slowly sets in this field I shall die."
