Goodbyes

Goodbyes are always a challenge no matter
how hard I try
As much as I prepare my eyes never remain dry
Although many people have passed in and out of my life
Each time feels just as hard as if I were stabbed with a knife
The tension and sadness builds up in my heart
As I feel that time approaching, the time that we must part
The last moment is my biggest fear
How can I get through it without shedding a single tear?
Yes that last moment is certainly the worst
But without a last moment there would not have been a first
Each person and experience has changed me in some way
Without all special moments I would not be who I am today
So although goodbyes may be hard and emotional at the end
Along with that goodbye came a very special friend
All the good times that we shared will live on in my heart forever
Memories are the one thing that time can not sever
