Habitat

By

Meg Ivey

Encircled by unfamiliar sounds, I am beckoned.
Fear's growth is rapid
The world I once called home is no longer,
Forcefully, the luxury of time had become nonexistent
Bewildered and frightened, an icy chill erupts from within
Curious yet vigilant, I slowly prepare myself for the inevitable
The sounds grow near as a luminous glow appears
Eyes closed, awaiting my fortune
An energy lifts me from my dark habitat, and I am immersed in that radiant
shine
An alien sound detonates from inside of me, a long awaited excitement
A welcomed peace ultimately finds itself
I am born.
