Late Night Conversations

by

Nicole Higginbotham

in the chair
bare
all that's true
as you
repel
and rebel
against love
livin fate
as a wait
of Heaven
on Earth
and to fall
for you still
would be
such a deal
for my story's
undone
untied and loose
and to learn
from the future
and suture
all ties
of before
to crave more
left unbalanced
in this challenge
where we wait
and sedate
the feelings inside
that we hide
and try to forget
and reject
and correct
what should be
as we see
for the years past
have told us at last
that true love
is rare
and to wear
ourselves out
thinkin about
one after another
soon smothers
the hope
of this chance
