Mum

By

Rusty Broadspear

Let’s leave all thoughts behind

Why don’t you leave me alone?

I want somewhere I can’t get in

Leave me on my own.

The Devil walks in and tells me

Let me take where you want to go.

There’s no door to her heart, she beats me

I cringe in a corner

And ask why.

Beth is my baby sister

Looked after, adored and how.

Never liked me

‘Cos different Father

And rather than admit

That Beth has a shit of a brother.

Let me take you where you don’t want to go

I want to enter your heart

You won’t let me, ‘cos you beat me so much’

I want to enter your arms

But you close them

And say you are cold, which you are

And busy, troubled ……..

Well my mind is muddled

You hurt me and I love you,

You’re my Mum,  we are each other

But one more hurt

Will mean

Goodbye.
