Evening of Angels

by

Rusty Broadspear

Dark leaf laden branches partially frame
The velvet, starred, Spring evening sky.
Birds chatter ceaselessly, recounting their day,
Before the closing night.
It was then I glimpsed the formation flight
Of Angels, trailing fine, blonde thread.

She was bound in the hair of Angels,
She smiled, waved, she was flying.
Sweeping higher and faster, looping,
Across the visage of a cheerful Moon.
Music of Angels laughter
Filtered finely down this magical night.

Believing she was leaving, myself and the bereaving.
I was gradually enclosed in a canopy of sadness.
Through tears, they became stars.
I felt a touch upon my shoulder,
Turned and beheld an Angel, who spoke these words,
"She is still of this life but we are taking her home."

Dark leaf laden branches, partially frame
Sweet visualizations, that remain as fresh
As the night of the Angels,
When they tethered her spirit that flew with her heart
And set her within her home. My consolation, the Angel said,
"She'll be with you forever, you are never alone."

The ink of my mind runs dry,
As inspiration trickles through tired fingers.
Time to rest, time to sleep,
Perhaps it's time to say goodbye.

We've all had our night of Angels
When, with goodness, they map our fate.
When we sob at beauty and sadness
That memories cannot evaporate.

I .............. as a human being,
Hold Angels and Love in my heart,
But there's love and there's love and there's a special Love,
From which I cannot be apart.

So ...... as the ink of my mind runs dry,
As inspiration trickles through tired fingers.
Time to rest, time to sleep,
Perhaps it's time to say goodbye.
