Persecution

Not wanting to cause confusion
Even in the simplest form of man,
We all practice exception and exclusion,
Not purposefully and not to plan.
We make deliberate omission
To affect the man in no man's land.
We practice ostracism
And dismiss it out of hand.
Minority view can be total taboo,
The result is discrimination.
Join the throng, don't let it be you
For fear of eradication.
We are deft and slick at segregation
We are subtle, scheming and sly,
Banning without consideration
Because they won't comply.
With intelligence comes intolerance,
We can make a man betrayed, afraid.
And we afflict such basic affronts,
While building a mind barricade.
Prejudice, expulsion and exploitation
Hide behind principle, honour and moral tone.
Apartheid, quarantine, extermination.
You'd better comply or die alone.
