Snapshot

by

Rusty Broadspear

Snapshot still, her head in his hands,

Moist eyes looked up into his.

Her fingers motionless

Around his waist.

Frozen forever, two half smiles,

Showing longing and sadness.

Infinite paralysis

Magnified the fulsome love

They held in store for each other.

A single tear

Falling for ever from open eyes

For ever declaring his love.

Fixed in time

Looking down in awe

At his jewel of the earth.

He found her.

She found him.

Sweet embrace so near

And when at last face to face,

Time was spent.

An unseen lightening strike,

A camera flash,

A snapshot.

Her hair skipped in the breeze,

He didn't notice.

The tear fell and shattered,

She didn't notice

No one bought this photograph,

For it only exists

In the mists of time

And in the minds

Of two people

In impossible love.
