Without Substance

by

Rusty Broadspear

Tragedy and love sealed
Tight bonds
Lovers alike.
Tears of laughter
Morph to sorrow
Summer today
Freezing winds tomorrow.

Amidst arctic wastes
A single crocus
Stiff, upright, proud
A phallic prominence
Not willing to turn
To tempest
Hope for life.

Loved like no others
Purple rhapsody
Unique in time
So sad the ride
Into outside time
Living now
Inside separate teardrops.

And in the desert
An oasis is born
Shorn
From brutal reality
Families gather
Children play
Tomorrow another day.

No goodbyes
Bring substance
Ifs, whys, don't matter
Too greater picture
They see, yet are blind
Blinks of affection
Closed eyes of goodbyes.

Without substance
The Earth changes
Without substance
We lose control
Without substance
We are led..............
Impossible to think goodbyes.
