Hesitation

by

Shannon Billings

We have no reasons
For what we’re doing here
We’re screaming without reason
We’re lingering in fear
Who said this would be easy
Well that was a lie
We’re giving up all that we love
Just to make it by
Of course the hearts are cold
We could never feel
The pain would break our hearts
No, we would never deal
We aren’t cowards
God knows we’ve had our share
I suppose its time to understand
But somehow I don’t care
We’re not perfect
But for our sins we’ve surely paid
No I see we can move on
But I’m just so afraid
The dark is safe
For we cannot see
But once in the light
We will finally be
