Perpetual

by

TL Taylor

Seasons come, seasons go
The sun rises and sets, as does the moon
The tides rise and fall.
And many other things in life
And nature are in constant change.
Never staying the same for more than a split second
And, so, people too
Are in a continual state of flux.
For most, these are happy events,
Even joyous events.
But the saddest, and perhaps,
Loneliest, aspect is to watch
Someone change so drastically, so quickly
That they go away, and sometimes end up dead.
Then notice that the seasons still come and go,
The tide still rises and falls,
and only a minute number
ever took notice.
And you thought you really mattered?
Really made a difference?
Not even close.
You better think again.
