Good Mourning

by

T L Taylor

I mourn

for that which has never been;

for that which can never be.

I am not worthy, I am not good enough.

The love of one such as you: so good, so pure -

an angel, cannot be mine.

For even the goodness that emanates,

the light that shines from within you

cannot break the shield of darkness

that surrounds my heart, my soul.

I am filth, a stain, a blight

that cannot be cleansed.

So I mourn: for you, for me -

you cannot ease my pain.

I can only give it to you,

and darkness would envelope all.

Dare not feel for me, grieve for me

lest my good mourning be for naught.
