Ah...there's nothing like a soft melody from the eighties that warms the
reception of a romantic event, but what are the recommendations? If I were the
disc jockey (DJ) , I would choose a particular tune of the period that contains
a pastoral orchestra playing along with the synthesizer, drums, guitars, and
bass. I would also choose a family oriented song that reflects about love
because there will be children attending it with the consent of their parents.
Let's take a heartwarming trip down memory lane and see what we can find.
Aside from the hustle and bustle of the fitness era, family oriented soft rock
flourished. The songs you would try first are the ones from movies of the
period, especially animated hits. In one wedding I saw on video, they had
"Somewhere Out There" played in the reception, which was a good example. For
those of you who don't know what movie featured it, it was one of the
prestigious hits from "An American Tail" and one of the best-loved love songs
written by Linda Ronstadt. If I planned a romantic occasion, I would select a
rarely heard song like "Love Survives" from "All Dogs Go To Heaven" because it
has a heavenly hue that sets the mood.
If you want a song not yet heard in the movies, I recommend Mederios Glenn's one
hit wonder "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You," a song played also in the
wedding tape. It was my favorite song to be requested in a romantic occasion and
after the third time the refrain is sung, the vocalist imitates the instrumental
break with his vocal ad lib. Then, at the third and last chorus, he does an ad
lib that sounds like a baroque tune. The Bangles' "Eternal Flame" was another
adequate choice for a song outside the cinema because there's one who thinks of
Care Bears and myself thinking about friendship.
If you're planning a party with romantic motifs or a wedding, fluent melodies
from the eighties were the most recommended. If you choose a suiting selection,
go with the soundtrack tunes first. Also, include tunes that are not featured in
movies (e.g "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You," as discussed in the
previous paragraph). Make sure that all of your requests are family friendly and
pleasing. A beautiful song can speak the kindest words you'll hear again and
again.
