The Blackness of Hypocrisy

by

Uzma Sadaf

You have won at last
Because you loved
You loved even in poverty
I have lost
Because I could not love
But you know it is not my fault
It was not in my power to love
The black writings written by hypocrisy
Are soon effaced
My words were hollow
My passions were colourless
So you have won
You can see
My eyes, my lips, my hands
All are defeated
Wherever I see
There is a hatred visible against me
But I cannot love
You have won because you loved.
